Frequently Asked Questions – Digital Gauges

Questions and answers

The DG gauges can be replaced by DK800S gauges and additional DZ26X, depending on the version. Information on resolution, cable length and connection to displays or interfaces is required for this.

If the  cable is shortened, the warranty will be void.

The DK and DK800S series can be connected to Siemens controllers via the MG40 Ethernet interface. In addition, all Magnescale probe bus converters can be connected to Profinet and Profibus.

Magnetic Ruers can be shortened or cut at any point without special tools. However, it should be noted that the magnetic ruler is mechanically deformed by the cut. The deformation leads to poorer linearity at this point. A buffer zone should therefore be provided.

The SJ700A series is the direct successor of the SJ700 series. It can be connected directly to current digital displays via a D-SUB connector.

The designation A and B explains the traversing speed of the gauges, which depends on the resolution. Basically, A is faster than B.

The reference point can be selected for the DK series at the beginning, at the end and in the center of the measuring range. However, this must be specified when ordering. A reference point cannot be changed later.

The DK series can cover a measuring range of up to 205 mm, but the gauges from 155 mm are not operated by a spring. Instead of the spring mechanism, a magnetic plate is used as a probe insert for mounting.

As a rule, gauges can be repaired, but this depends on the type and severity of the damage.

MG modules can be used to connect gauges to Ethernet, EtherCAT and CC-Link.
